Internal surfaces of boilers out of service are particularly susceptible to corrosive attack. To minimize attack, the unit must be properly prepared and stored.  The dry storage method is recommended whenever a boiler is to be out of service for an extended period and when time will be available to prepare the unit for normal operation.  The wet storage method may be employed if the unit is required on an emergency standby basis.
