PROTECTING GALVANIZED SURFACES & PREVENTING WHITE RUST

Manufacturers of steel cooling towers and related components have used galvanized coating for more than 50 years.  This galvanized coating provides a mechanical and corrosion barrier between the base metal steel surface and the cooling water as well as the moist air.

The galvanized surface is a near-pure zinc coating applied to a mild steel surface.  This material of construction can be a cost-effective alternative to others, such as plastic and stainless steel.  Properly manufactured and maintained galvanized-coated material will have a life expectancy over 20 years.  However, poor manufacturing and/or improper maintenance can lead to premature failure of this material.
